MY EXPERIENCE AS A WOMAN IN MY FIELD

”Every girl and every woman, has the potential to make this world a better place, and that potential lies in the act of thinking higher thoughts and feeling deeper things. When women and girls, everywhere, begin to see themselves as more than inanimate objects; but as beautiful beings capable of deep feelings and high thoughts, this has the capacity to create change all around. The kind of change that is for the better.”-C. Joy Bell C. Women acceptance in Rwanda I can say that we moved from one level to another level because back in our old year’s women were not even supposed to reach where men are this means there were responsibilities for men and women which was like an order. Women were supposed to do house chords, and raising their babies only and others was for men, this had affected women’s confident where some of the young girls grown up exclusive themselves thinking that they cannot do such different things because they are not men.

Nowadays women has the same chances as men to do all different kind of jobs and taking duties more than being a mother where now we have a big number of women who are performing many more different sites. In this essay I am going to talk about woman in my field which is hospitality management.

People used to think that hospitality it is only about being a waitress and receptionist as a girls and working in this hospitality industry have many of the challenges as a woman like lack of respect where you may tell someone that you are a waitress a certain business and people are like that job doesn’t suits you and starts to treat you different in disrespected way, for instance, you are a general manager and other men in your staff treat you like a woman cannot lead us as if we were born differently.

Furthermore, we face overt and insidious sexual harassment and man interruption simply because we are women, this is when getting promotion you must have sexual business with your boss so as to grow in business and gain the promotions, some of the boss treats us as the own us where they frighten you to sleep with them or getting fired, some women with the soft heart might lose their core values because of that which doesn’t last for longer in case you will keep doing it.

These challenges are magnified for women working in male-dominated fields. From “bro-culture” to assumptions you don’t know how to do your job on the basis of your gender, women working in these fields go to work every day already saddled with the task of proving their worth and abilities — a weight their male colleagues do not bear.

women are encouraged to speak out against these circumstances to demand equal treatment (and pay) as a strong woman understands that the gifts such as logic, decisiveness, and strength are just as feminine as intuition and emotional connection. She values and uses all of her gifts. Some places in hospitality woman counts at the same time with man
